We’ve had a couple of accounts use either 2D barcode or QR code for authentication. In the case of the barcode reader, it required a powered USB hub because the device’s onboard USB port didn’t have the power required. Another device model required a firmware update to deliver the necessary power to the reader.
From a Pharos standpoint, all we need is an alphanumeric string that aligns with a user – as long as the reader does this (convert the card data to that string), we’re good. The devil in the details is that the reader must be supported by the device to which it is being attached.
