Unable to Connect to Device using Ricoh iMFP Installation App

We're trying to get our Ricoh iMFPs configured to use iMFP and have followed all of the instructions but we can't add any of the printers to the Installation Application. Every printer we try returns "init -- device not reachable". We can reach the printer's webpages and we can ping them but no matter what we can't connect in the app. We have tried having the printer and the app on the same VLAN, we've tried direct-connecting with a cross-over cable, nothing we seem to do works. Does anyone have a trick or an idea on what's going on? Is there any logging in the applet that can help us figure out what's going on? The application is running on Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2 using Java 7 x64 and have even tried it with Java x32 AND on OS X.
