On the Personalized Views screen, you can create and save your own customized views in Fleet Manager to include data elements relevant only to you and arrange it in the way that makes sense to you. You can build your own data views based on any of the existing Fleet Manager templates (Cost, Inventory, Meter, etc.). Or, you can start from scratch with a blank template and add/remove the columns you need to support your business. The templates you save will be available on any workstation you use to log into your account, and you can export and share your views with other system users.
Note: You can create up to a maximum of 15 customized views in the Personalized Views screen.
Create a View
There are three ways you can create a custom view
- Create view from a Blank Template
- Create from Standard Templates
- Create from File
Create view from a Blank Template
By default, a view called Blank is available when you click on the Personalized Views tab. To create a custom view using the default Blank view, click on the drop-down menu next to the view name and then select Configure Columns.
Select the data elements/fields you want to display on your custom view. The application will immediately add each column or group of columns to the view as you select them. You can also filter, sort, and group information, as described in the Using Tables section.
Create View from Template
You can create a view from a list of standard view templates:
- Blank View
To create a view from a template, click on the drop-down menu next to any view and then select New View > Create from Template. Select the template that you want. The application will add the data elements of the template you selected.
Create View from File
This method allows you to create a view from a previously downloaded custom view. For example, you can create a view from a file shared by other system users and then save it as your own custom view.
To create a view from a file, click on the drop-down menu next to any view and then select New View > Create from File. Browse to the location of the .pvt file. The application will add the data elements included in the file you selected.
Note: The application can only accept Personalized View Template (.pvt) file format, which is a Beacon generated format. The file cannot be opened or edited using other file editors and it can only be imported into Beacon.
- Select the view that you want to rename.
- Click on the drop-down button next to the view name. In the drop-down list that appears select Rename.
- Type a name in the text field and then click Save.
You can download custom views so you can use them again later or you can share them with other system users who can import and save it as their own custom view. The view is saved as a .pvt file.
You can export data from any selected view to a CSV file suitable for importing into other applications.
- Select the view that you want to export to CSV.
- Click on the drop-down button next to the view name. Select Export CSV in the drop-down list that appears and then open or save the file.
You can add or remove any of the included data elements. Select the view that you want to edit and click on the drop-down menu next to it and then select Configure Columns. Select or unselect the categories or fields that you want to remove or add. They are immediately added or removed from the view.
You can delete a custom view if you no longer need it.
To delete a view, click on the drop-down menu next to any view and then select Delete. On the next screen that appears, click OK to confirm deleting the view.
