We are pleased to announce the latest update to the Pharos Beacon cloud platform!
New features in this update
There are several improvements and new features in this update, including personalized views to support your business workflows and processes, and the ability to remotely secure Ricoh printers via Sentry Print Services.
You can now create and save your own custom views in Fleet Manager. On the Personalized Views tab (shown here), you can build your own data views based on any of the existing Fleet Manager templates (Cost, Inventory, Meter, etc.). Or, you can start from scratch with a blank template and add/remove the columns you need to support your business. The templates you save will be available on any workstation you use to log into your account, and you can export and share your views with other system users.
Ricoh Integrated Printer Support
With Sentry Print Services, you can now remotely secure Ricoh printers to enable secure pull printing workflows. You can enable user authentication with proximity cards, username & password / PIN, or mobile release. The ability to remotely secure HP, Konica Minolta, and now Ricoh devices from a central web-based location makes the Beacon platform unique in the print management industry.
Automatic Updates to Secure Print Grid IP Address
When a change in a printer's IP address is detected by the Device Scout, the change is now reflected in both the Fleet Manager and Secure Print views. Previously, this change was only shown in Fleet Manager.
Configurable Authentication for Device Functions
You can now control which device functions require user authentication when you secure a device. You can require authentication for printing only, or you can lock down all device functions (e.g. copy, scan, fax). If you want to require authentication for printing only, any copy / scan / fax activity will still be tracked and recorded if the user is logged in. However, if an employee chooses to not authenticate to use copy / scan / fax features, that activity will not be tracked and recorded.
Web Proxy Support for HP Printers
IT administrators can now easily configure HP devices to work with a web proxy. Prior to this release, when a network required a proxy configuration, HP printers could not be properly secured. Now, when you configure the Device Scout with the network proxy configuration, the same settings will be used by the printer to communicate with Secure Print, allowing HP devices to be properly secured.
Fleet Manager Report API Service
An application programming interface (API) is now available for customers to automate the extraction of their fleet volume data to use off-system. New volume data is available on a nightly basis and can be exported to common analytics tools like MS Power BI, Curl, and PowerShell. If you would like more information about the Fleet Manager API, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
