Sentry Print requires Device Scout and Print Scout that are Sentry Print capable. If you are adding Sentry Print to a Fleet Manager or Print Analytics environment, Device Scout and Print Scout will need to be uninstalled and redeployed.

Follow these steps to reconfigure your environment for Sentry Print.

Updating the Device Scout

To update your Device Scout, you will need to uninstall your existing Device Scout and install the Sentry Print enabled Device Scout.

Step 1: Save the Site Encryption Key

The Site Encryption Key (previously called the 'Site Password') protects the site keys, which are used for encrypting print jobs. The encryption key is required to download the Device Scout and the master Print Scout. In this step, save the key using any of the options provided (e.g. email, download) and then confirm that you have saved it for later use. See Save Site Encryption Key  for more information.

Step 2: Create and download the Device Scout

In this step, you will download the Sentry Print capable Device Scout.

  1. Go to the Discover > Device Scout screen.
  2. Click the Create button. Enter a name for the Device Scout, then click Save.
  3. Click the Download button to download the new Device Scout installation package.

Step 3: Uninstall your existing Device Scout

You will need to uninstall your existing Device Scout before installing the Sentry Print capable Device Scout.

  1. Navigate to the Windows Control Panel and select Programs > Uninstall a Program (or use Add/Remove Programs if using an older version of Windows.
  2. Select Device Scout, then click Uninstall.

Or you can navigate to Start > All Programs > Pharos Device Scout > Uninstall Device Scout.

Step 4: Install the Sentry Print capable Device Scout

Install the Device Scout package you downloaded in Step 2. For instructions, see Install the Device Scout on a Windows Server machine.

Updating the Print Scout

You must uninstall all existing Print Scout installations and deploy the Senrty Print-enabled Print Scout.

Step 1: Uninstall the Print Scout

Uninstall the Print Scout from users' workstations and Print Servers. See Uninstalling the Print Scout  for more instructions.

Note: Make sure that the Print Scout is completely uninstalled. All existing Print Scout settings and local data files, including those that have not been sent to the server must be deleted.

Step 2: Download the Print Scout

Download the Sentry Print capable Print Scout.

  1. Navigate to Discover > Print Scout.
  2. Click the Download button, then enter the Site Encryption Key that you've saved earlier (from the Secure > Setup Guide screen).

Step 3: Install the Print Scout

Installing the Print Scout is a two-step process that begins with installing a Print Scout on a single computer and registering it. After successful registration, a Print Scout deployment package and configuration settings file are created. These files will later be used to mass-deploy Print Scouts to multiple machines (user workstations).

  1. Install the Sentry Print-enabled Print Scout. See Install the Print Scout.
  2. Deploy the Sentry Print-enabled Print Scout on user workstations. See Deploying the Print Scout to multiple machines
