How to use Google Drive with Pharos MobilePrint

As noted in this forum post, users can’t automatically email documents for mobile printing straight from Google Drive.  However, registration merely needs to be completed first, and then documents can be emailed from Google Drive for MobilePrint just like from any email client.

There are two methods to set up mobile printing from Google Drive, both of which are described on the following pages.  (These steps were written for Pharos MobilePrint version 1.3.2.66404, so the screen shots may vary slightly from what newer versions of MobilePrint look like.)

    Method #1: Register through Gmail

Log into your Gmail account and send an email to your site’s MobilePrint email address.  You’ll get the standard email back:

Click on the link and you’ll be taken to the Pharos Web Release site:

Once you log in, you’ll see your email address listed, as well as a message stating that a confirmation email has been sent to you.  Open that email in Gmail and click on the confirmation link:

After clicking the link, you’ll be taken back to the Pharos Web Release page with a confirmation button.

Click the button and you will be successfully registered to send mobile print attachments from Gmail as well as from Google Drive.  See the end of this document for instructions on how to email a document from Google Drive.

Method #2: Register through Pharos Web Release manually

Go to the Pharos Web Release web page (https://MobilePrintservername:9001/webrelease) and log in using your Pharos ID and password.

Click the down arrow next to your Pharos ID at the top of the page.

Type your Gmail address in the text field and click the “+” icon to the right, or press <ENTER>.  (The “+” icon won’t appear until you start typing.)

A message will be displayed, stating that a confirmation email has been sent to you.  Log into your Gmail account and open that email, then click on the confirmation link:

After clicking the link, you’ll be taken back to the Pharos Web Release page with a confirmation button.

Click the button and you will be successfully registered to send mobile print attachments from Gmail as well as from Google Drive.

How to email a document from Google Drive

Log into your Google Drive account and open the document you want to print.  It should open in a Google app (Docs, Sheets, etc.) but if it doesn’t, click Open at the top of the page. Click on File, and from the drop down menu, select Email as attachment….  From here you can type or select the Mobile Print email address, then click Send.
