    Beacon gathers a lot of information about your devices automatically, but there's other valuable information that only you can provide. To get the most of out Beacon, you should specify as much information about your devices as possible, such as their location information and any departments they are associated with. To do this, you use the Edit Device Supplemental Data dialog box. To open this dialog box, select one or more devices from any Fleet Manager views (Meter, Toner, Volume and Status) and then click the Edit button.

     

    Edit Cost

     

    You may override cost information for an individual asset instead of by model. Using the Cost tab, select either a Cost Profile or enter individual CPP values. You may also do this form the Device Cost or Device Inventory tabs.

    Edit Device Supplemental Data

     

    You can edit data for a single device or you can edit multiple devices in a single operation. Each field contains a list that highlights the current value at the top, followed by Clear Value, and then the remaining options. To create an entry, click in the field, type the value, and click Save. To clear an entry, select the Clear Value option.

     

    NOTE: The device supplemental data is case sensitive. For example, Engineering, ENGINEERING and engineering are all different and treated as unique values.

     

    Editing a Single Device

     

    To edit these fields for a single device:

     

    1. On the Fleet tab, select any of the four device views: Meter, Toner, Volume or Status.
    2. Locate the device you want to edit.
    3. Select the device by checking the box next to the device record.
    4. Click the Edit button. The Edit Device Supplemental Data dialog box is displayed.
    5. Edit the data fields as needed.
    6. Click Save.

     

    Editing Multiple Devices

     

    When you edit multiple devices, any values that are the same for all selected devices are initially displayed for each field. If the values are not the same for all selected devices, or if no value has been entered for any of the selected devices, then the fields will appear empty; you'll need to select a value from each list or create a new value to apply to all selected devices. When editing multiple devices, keep the following in mind:

     

    • If you make no changes to a data field, that data field retains its original value for all of the devices you have selected.
    • Any edits you make will be applied to all of the devices you have selected.
    • The “Clear Value” option clears the data field for all of the devices you have selected.

     

    1. On the Fleet tab, select any of the four device views: Meter, Toner, Volume or Status.
    2. Locate the devices you want to edit.
    3. Select the devices by checking the box next to each device record.

            NOTE: You can select all of the devices on the page by checking the box at the top of the device selection column.

    1. Click the Edit button. The Edit Device Supplemental Data dialog is displayed.
    2. Edit data fields as needed.
    3. Click Save.
