Upgrading to Windows Server 2008

Blueprint Enterprise 4.2 does not support directly upgrading from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 in an existing Blueprint installation. If you want to upgrade your operating system with Blueprint Server components (Analyst, Collector, and Server Tracker) already installed, you must follow the appropriate process below to complete the upgrade.

To upgrade Windows 2003 with an Analyst/Collector installed to Windows 2008:

  1. Back up the Blueprint Database of the Analyst.
  2. Uninstall the Analyst/Collector. Do not leave the database on uninstall. Refer to the “Blueprint Installation Guide” for the uninstall procedures.
  3. Upgrade Windows 2003 to Windows 2008.
  4. Install the Analyst/Collector (including a fresh database on the Analyst). Refer to the “Blueprint Installation Guide”.
  5. Restore backup Blueprint Database.

To upgrade Windows 2003 with a Server Tracker installed to Windows 2008:

  1. Uninstall the Server Tracker. Refer to the “Uninstalling Trackers” section of the “Blueprint Installation Guide”.
  2. Upgrade Windows 2003 to Windows 2008.
  3. Install the Server Tracker. Refer to the “Installing the Tracker Component” section of the “Blueprint Installation Guide”.
